SUMMER COURSE AT CENTRAL CT. STATE UNIVERSITY
Get drumming, singing and moving! Learn multiple techniques for bringing the music of Cuba and Africa into your classroom and/or ensembles. Instruction will be designed for music educators at all grade levels.

TOPICS COVERED:

    • Learn authentic drumming and songs from Cuba and Ghana
    • Explore connections between Afro-Cuban and West African musical traditions
    • Develop precision drum, bell and rattle technique and recitation of onomatopoeic drum “vocables”
    • Differentiate instruction for your students by learning rhythms in a wide range of difficulty
    • Learn strategies to recruit, equip, schedule and implement drumming classes/ensembles in a K-12 setting
