On-Campus Workshops & Clinics

ThisWorldMusic offers innovative, hands-on cultural learning experiences for colleges and universities at both the undergraduate and graduate level. We can tailor African drumming workshops and masterclasses for university percussion ensembles and other musical groups, as well as for classes and student clubs with no drumming or musical experience.

Clients include: University of Massachusetts Amherst; University of Rhode Island; Sarah Lawrence College; University of Southern Maine; and Central Connecticut State University.

Semester Courses

For schools interested in a more in-depth experience for students, we can work collaboratively to create a semester-long African drumming ensemble and lecture course for credit, including:

  • curriculum design, development and implementation
  • ensemble recruitment and auditions
  • detailed assessment rubrics
  • instrument procurement
  • concert programming and campus community events

Clients include: Westfield State University; Worcester Polytechnic Institute; and Worcester State University.

Study Abroad Programs

In addition to our award-winning open-enrollment study abroad program in the African nation of Ghana, we offer exclusive school programs in Africa for both faculty and students. We can work with stakeholders at the school to create a unique African cultural immersion experience, one that is mission-aligned and fits with existing curricular goals.

Clients include: Knox College; Saint Mary’s College of California; University School of Milwaukee; and University of Massachusetts Amherst.
